An exclusive neighbourhood with lushly landscaped Tudor and Georgian style homes centered around the green oasis of Lytton Park and North Toronto Lawn Bowling Club located just fifteen minutes from downtown Toronto. Family activity is centered around John Ross Robertson Public School enjoying one of the highest provincial school ratings in the province. Havergal College is a private school alternative for young women offering an exceptional education situated on a 22 acre campus. Excellent shops, restaurants and recreational facilities all within walking distance along Avenue Road make this a favourite location for affluent professionals including business executives, stockbrokers, doctors, lawyers and professors.

Originally, Lytton Park was mostly farmland with relatively poor access to Toronto’s downtown and only a few noteworthy country estates. However, the situation changed rapidly after the Metropolitan Street Railway was established in 1886.

A one-horse car line built by The Metropolitan Company played a huge role in the development of the area. The company quickly realized that the completion of the railway would drive land values in the region up and therefore purchased 200 acres of what was once Beatty Farm.

In 1888 the name Beatty Farm was changed to Glen Grove Park. Not long after, the subdivision and residential development of Lytton Park began. The neighbourhood immediately underwent strong building activity, but the real construction boom started in 1912. Over the next fifteen years, new homes, schools, churches and parks were built, and the neighbourhood soon joined the City of Toronto. Since then, many other services have been brought to Lytton Park, spurring on further development of the area.
