On Sunday, April 13th, the inaugural Community Home Show will take place at the historic Artscape Wychwood Barns. This first of its kind event in Toronto will promote the products and services available within our community and make it easy for community members to buy local and connect with their local merchants and businesses. Furthermore as Andrew Fishman, publisher of Village Living, explains
“it will tout the amazing assets we have to offer young families and professionals seeking a robust community to live and raise their families.”
Creators of the Community Home Show, Sage Goldenberg and Christine Spencer are residents of Hillcrest Village and both run home based businesses. Sage is the Owner and Professional Organizer of Beautifully Organized and Christine is the Principal at Spencer Associates. They see a need to connect local residents of this community with local resources as they think about renovating their homes or moving to the neighborhood.
The Community Home Show started as a much smaller idea. Sage explains,
“we were trying to find a way to promote our businesses directly to the residents of our community. We thought about a small seminar to discuss trends in the industry and share tips and tricks to implement those at home. Others in the Community quickly took an interest and the Community Home Show was born.”
Sage and Christine know it’s important to support local businesses but it’s not always easy to find local resources especially from a home based business. There is an abundance of talent in this area from artists to contractors, real estate agents to designers and the Community Home Show will give them a place to promote their goods and services. With the number of home renovations on the rise the Community Home Show will illustrate that you can find resources for every area of your home within our community. To help you make wise decisions about where to spend your renovation dollars Valerie and I will be in attendance conducting several discussion forums about “renovating your house to increase its value”. I recently wrote a blog about this topic which was very popular as this subject seems to interest many.
Buyers are willing to pay the high home prices today if you offer them the features they want. At the home show we will outline the dos and don’ts of renovating to ensure your renovation dollars give you the highest pay back possible.
In addition to home related exhibitors and speakers, the Community Home Show will feature The Community Table, which will enable home based businesses and artisans to cost effectively introduce themselves to the community. Over 30,000 VIP tickets are being distributed in this magazine. These tickets will allow free entrance to the Show as well as a raffle ticket to win a home makeover or a number of other fabulous prizes provided by the Community Home Show.
The Josie Stern Team is very excited to be a part of this worthwhile event. Besides participating in a discussion forum about "renovating your home to increase its value", we will also be available throughout the day to answer any questions. Hope to see you there.
